The Black Russian cocktail is name after its ingredients:

   - Black: The coffee liqueur, like Kahlua, is dark in color.

   -  Russian: The vodka, a typical Russian spirit.

The Black Russian was first made in 1949 at a hotel in Brussels, Belgium. It was created to honor the U.S. ambassador to Luxembourg at the time. The drink was emblematic of the time, with the Cold War just starting.

Recipe

                  Vodka                   - 40ml

Dark Coffee liquor/ Kahlua     - 20ml

strait up in a whiskey glass over ice.

Tip - add milk/cream to make white Russian.
